AIRCENT Air Defense NIKE-HERCULES & HAWK Air Defense Belts (Source: Rick Anders, Walter Elkins, and others ) Have made changes to the original map - this shows the situation approximately mid-1968; French sectors are still shown but the units have been pulled out of the belts. With the reduction of air defense missile units caused by France's pull-out, the planned deployment in the 4th ATAF area had to be modified - this affected primarily the German HAWK units. I am still looking for information pertaining to the original deployment plans for the US HAWK units - which Battalion areas within the belt where assigned to which HAWK battalions?
